OVERVIEW

Building on the success of the last year's conference, the 3rd International Technical Textile Conference 2010 is being organised to emphasise the advancements in Medical Textiles and Geotextiles. The Conference will be a unique opportunity to hear from experts about the nature of, and prospects in these areas of Technical Textiles Industry.

It will offer an ideal platform for the both local and international industry professionals from around the globe who will share their insights, knowledge, research and recommendations with the manufacturers, traders and users of the field to explore the opportunities in the Geotextiles and medical applications of technical.

KNOWLEDGE VILLAGE - An added feature

Knowledge Village is a hub for the leading textiles universities and colleges to display research posters of their graduates. It is aimed to promote efficient, sustainable and effective Technical Textiles initiatives through synergic development of industrial and academic resources.

The Conference Committee will also select the best two of the displayed posters and will distribute the souvenirs.


2009 HIGHLIGHTS  
  • The 2nd International Technical Textiles Conference was based on the theme "Application of Nonwoven as Technical Textiles
  • Mr. Farkhand Iqbal, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Textile Industry, was Chief Guest at the conference
  • The conference was chaired by Mr. Mohammad Farooq Sumar, who is the Chairman of the National Textile Foundation
  • The conference was held under the auspices of Textile Institute of Pakistan (TIP), which is a leading textile education institution of the country, and the Textile Research & Innovation Centre (TRIC)
  • Dr. Tahir Shah, a prominent scientist at the Centre of Materials Research, University of Bolton , U.K. , delivered interesting and informative lectures on Geosynthetic and Their Major Applications as well as Smart and Intelligent Textiles (SMITs)
  • Dr. Anbahan Ariadurai, Visiting Professor from Sri Lanka & Head of Textile Research & Innovation Centre at TIP introduced the audience to the concept of "Nonwoven Technologies"
  • Mr. Danish Ahmed, a researcher from the Textile Research and Innovation Centre, delivered a presentation on the wide variety of Medical Textiles and their uses
  • Syeda Faiza Jamil, an upcoming researcher in technical textiles based at the TIP, gave an enthralling presentation on the vast applications of Geotextiles, especially with respect to their potential in Pakistan
  • Mr. Aasim Ahmed, another budding researcher from TIP, enlightened the audience with the success of Agritextiles in preventing fungus infection of red chilies and soil erosion
  • The refreshment was sponsored by Al-Ameen Corporation
